Ortiz lifts UMass over Merrimack with two-goal performance

Behind two goals from senior Will Ortiz the Minutemen snapped their three-game losing streak with a 4-1 victory over the Warriors at the Mullins Center on Saturday. UMass will have two weeks off for the holidays before returning to play on Dec. 29 against Union in the UConn Tournament.

Vinson’s double-double leads UMass to victory

Without Rickey Harris and Freddie Riley, the Minutemen relied on freshman Terrell Vinson and junior Gary Correia in a 81-58 victory over Grambling Friday night. Harris was out with an ankle sprain and Riley is out 2-4 weeks after a minor knee surgery.

Public Law School Proposal in Action

The University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees voted 14-4 Thursday to approve a proposal to establish a law program at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The vote is the last in a series of Trustee committee votes which have cleared the way for UMass Dartmouth to absorb the Southern New England School of Law, creating Massachusetts’ first public law school.

UMass student fights for treatment for autoimmune disease

University of Massachusetts student Hannah Coler is currently fighting diffuse scleroderma, an autoimmune disease, as well as her insurance company, which is refusing to pay for her potentially life-saving treatment.

The Best Albums of 2009

As 2009 is coming to an end rapidly, we should look back at the better parts of the past 12 months in music. It was a year of huge headline-grabbing concerts and uber-popular singles. It was not really a good year as far as albums go. Many released this past year were lack luster at best.
