With a 1-4 record in the Atlantic 10, the Massachusetts women’s basketball team sits in 11th place in the conference standings. This weekend, the Minutewomen will get an opportunity to claim their second A-10 victory when they travel to Kingston to face Rhode Island.

After winning its first Atlantic 10 game of the season, the Massachusetts men’s basketball team will look to make it two in a row against Charlotte at the Mullins Center on Saturday with the game televised on ESPNU. In their matchup last season, the 49ers defeated the Minutemen in heartbreaking fashion, claiming a 69-64 win in overtime.

Though the Massachusetts men’s basketball team has had one of the toughest non-conference schedules of any team in the Atlantic 10, UMass coach Derek Kellogg feels the games are a good test for the team. In their last game, the Minutemen picked up their first conference road win of the season against Saint Joseph’s.

Despite the Mullins Center fairing well for opponents, the Massachusetts women’s basketball team has struggled to find its shot and rhythm at home this season. Along with home woes, the Minutewomen have had trouble in their backcourt with injuries, placing strain on guards Kim Benton, Diatiema Hill and Megan Zullo.

The Massachusetts track and field teams will travel to the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center on Friday for the annual Reebok Boston Indoor Games. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, UMass will get an opportunity to perform with Olympic athletes and watch gold medalists train.
