Well-researched/reported story. Boring lede.

Of course, it's about the SGA, so that's to be expected, I suppose.

As a clarification, this statement is incorrect:
"Restrictions, according to several members of the SGA, include the elections commissions’ candidate code of conduct bylaw stating that candidates for senate may only spend up to $10 campaigning. Seventy-five dollars may be spent campaigning by the president and trustee. Additionally, it is also written in the bylaws that campaign materials must be bought at Campus OnCopy."

The budgets are not stated in the bylaws and candidates are not required to use funds at Campus Design and Copy. Budgets are decided by the Elections Commission based on the number of candidates in the election and the budget of the entire election. Also, candidates are encouraged to use CD&C since it is easiest to purchase from, but are usually offered other alternatives if necessary.

Otherwise, I would like to show my support for online elections. As a candidate and former Chancellor of Elections I have seen the difficulties of the electoral process from multiple angles and as such know that this is the necessary step to keep the SGA closest to the students that it represents. Although, I believe that the traditional polling places should still be staffed as an reminder and help center for students that have questions about the process.

I encourage everyone that has an opinion on this bill to come out on Tuesday to voice their opinions.
