A two-car accident sent one vehicle over a steep embankment and into the athletic fields along Commonwealth Avenue across from the campus Recreation Center earlier this evening.

There were no injuries according to the driver of the 1999 Audi A4 that lost control, jumped the curb and slid down the snowy embankment after colliding with the other sedan.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. Tuesday as area roadways became slick with slushy wet snow, though whether the wintry weather played a role in the accident was not immediately known.

The driver of the Audi, Kevin Moore, 19, of Amherst and a Greenfield Community College student, said he believes the driver of the other vehicle was a student at the University of Massachusetts, though that could not immediately be confirmed.

Officials responded to the accident, and a local towing company pulled the Audi from the field about a half hour later.

Comment was not immediately available from police.
