Sound surrounds at Five College Choral Festival

The Five College Choral Festival, held every two to three years at Smith College, fell this year on Saturday, Feb. 20. A popular event in the Pioneer Valley, the festival featured twelve groups and nearly 500 individual singers from the Five College Consortium.

Def Poet celebrates Afro-Dominican culture and 166 year independence

University of Massachusetts will celebrate the sights and sounds of Dominican Independence Day this Saturday, February 27, with a series of cultural performances in the Fine Arts Center. The event is organized by the UMass Casa Dominicana, a cultural RSO that provides students with social and educational events that celebrate Dominican culture.

Track and Field head to Boston for NEC’s

Last season, the UMass track and field team finished ninth and 10th respectively in the NEC’s. Both teams will hope to improve on those finishes after placing fifth and seventh in the A-10 championships last weekend.

Boston Globe: Confessed rapist remains enrolled at UMass due to administrative error

According to a story in today’s Boston Globe, “officials at the University of Massachusetts Amherst this week acknowledged that they allowed a student who confessed to raping a friend on campus last fall, a felony, to remain enrolled and avoid significant discipline.”

Minutewomen lose, 10-8, in slushy weather

The Massachusetts women’s lacrosse team lost its second game of the season to No. 10 Boston University, 10-8. Despite a late run by the Minutewomen, the Terrier offense maintained composure and held on to the victory.

Hill, Benton to be honored at senior night

The Massachusetts women’s basketball team will honor seniors Diatiema Hill and Kim Benton at senior night against Saint Joseph’s. The game will be the last time the Minutewomen play at the Mullins Center this season.
