The University of Massachusetts system revealed in a statement this morning that President Jack Wilson will leave his position in 2011.

Wilson has overseen the five-campus UMass system since September 2, 2003. His term ends on June 30, 2011.

UMass officials said in the statement that a search committee including students faculty and staff will be formed and a consultant hired to take part in a national search for Wilson’s replacement.

Updates will be provided on DailyCollegian.com as they come. Here is a brief video of a conversation he had with The Boston Globe’s Tracy Jan.

So then why did Mr. Wilson take the raise? I think its horrible to fund his last year after we, college students and parents, take out loans to attend. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I forget all the good things he did for our University. Bye Jack!
