April 12

Karen Brinn-Nazarro of Crestwood, New York, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct. At 8:34 p.m., two female students reported a woman in Hampden Dining Commons snack bar verbally harassing them. Brinn-Nazarro reportedly loudly asked the girls, “Do you always walk around with your breasts hanging out?” When a University of Massachusetts Police Department officer asked Brinn-Nazarro, who was reportedly still yelling, to lower her voice, she reportedly retorted, “Why are you on campus today?” and refused to lower her voice. Brinn-Nazarro was then arrested on the charge of disorderly conduct. Her son, Ben Nazarro, a Hampshire College student who was playing in the band The Bubonic Souls at the Massachusetts Daily Collegian’s “Paper Jam” in the Southwest Residential Area, reportedly attempted to intercede to diffuse the situation, allegedly obstructing the officer from arresting his mother. He was issued a no-trespass order by the UMPD. When Brinn-Nazarro’s boyfriend came to post bail at the UMPD station, officers saw Ben Nazzaro in the car and arrested him for trespassing.

April 13

Two 22-year-old Amherst males were issued summonses to court for damage worth more than $250 to University property. At 8:32 p.m. a UMPD officer on patrol saw two males “grinding” bikes near the Recreation Center. Upon closer inspection, the officer saw that as the result of their activity, pieces of concrete had broken off the recently remodeled area. The two males, whose names were not released, were summoned to Eastern Hampshire District Court.

Christopher Shelton of Waltham, Massachusetts, was arrested for trespassing on school grounds. An officer recognized Shelton as a person previously issued a no-trespassing order banning him from campus in the Southwest Circle at 9:30 p.m.

April 16

James Evans of South Boston, Massachusetts, and Joseph H. Barry of Boston, Massachusetts, were arrested for liquor law violations. An officer on patrol in Lot 50 noticed two males in a white Cadillac DeVille whom the officer suspected of possessing alcohol while underage. Barry and Evans were found to have alcohol in the vehicle and both were arrested on the charge of possession of alcohol while under the age of 21.

Two students were issued summonses to court for use without authority of University property. Emergency services were called to the Hadley Farm at 2:30 a.m. after a female student was hurt. The student was injured while reportedly riding in a University-owned electric car. A male student was driving a vehicle with two female students riding inside

when he reportedly hit an object and shattered the rear windshield. One of the female students suffered a facial injury, though she is reportedly not seriously injured. The driver has been summonsed to Eastern Hampshire District Court for damage to property worth more than $250, and use without authority. The female student has been summoned for use without authority.

April 17

James Henry Conners of Medfield, Massachusetts, was arrested for liquor law violations. A UMPD officer viewed a grey Ford which the officer suspected had alcohol in it. The officer found alcohol in the car, and Conner was arrested on the charge of possession of alcohol while under the age of 21.

John Sousa of Medford, Massachusetts, was arrested for liquor law violations. In Lot 33, an officer viewed a grey Honda Civic whose driver he suspected of underage possession of liquor. The officer found alcohol in the car as well as a fake driver’s license. Sousa was arrested on charges of misuse of a liquor ID card and possession of alcohol while under the age of 21.

April 18

Matthew Alfred Cote of Hubbarston, Massachusetts, was arrested on breaking-and-entering charges. At 12:32 a.m., an officer in Lot 32 viewed Cote as he reportedly broke the window of a grey Nissan Sentra and proceeded to unlock and enter the vehicle. Cote exited the vehicle with numerous items from inside, and the officer arrested him. Cote was arrested on charges of larceny worth more than $250, breaking and entering a vehicle at nighttime, and four counts of malicious destruction of property worth more than $250.

Kenneth E. Lague of Brookfield, Massachusetts, was arrested for liquor law violations. An officer noticed the driver (Lague) of a green Ford Taurus cross the marked lanes on North Pleasant St. Upon approaching Lague, the officer reportedly smelled alcohol on him. The officer asked Lague to perform numerous field sobriety tests, which he failed. Lague was arrested on the charges of a liquor OUI and violating marked traffic lanes.

Joshua D. McPherson of Holyoke, Massachusetts, was arrested for liquor law violations. A UMPD officer reportedly viewed a green Mercury Mountaineer driving inconsistently on University Drive and asked the driver to pull to the side of the road. McPherson allegedly had bloodshot eyes and appeared under the influence of alcohol to the officer, and was asked to perform numerous field sobriety tests, which he failed. McPherson did not have registration information for the vehicle or an inspection sticker on it. McPherson was arrested on charges of a liquor OUI, failure to produce vehicle registration and failure to have the vehicle inspected.

Sidikiba Kaba of Malden, Massachusetts, was arrested as the result of a traffic stop. While driving on Fearing Street, Kaba was pulled over by a UMPD officer. Kaba was found to have a dangerous weapon in his vehicle and was arrested on the charge of carrying a dangerous weapon.

Daryl J. Deboer of Meriden, Connecticut, was arrested for liquor law violations. While driving on Commonwealth Ave., Deboer was signaled to pull over by a UMPD officer for crossing the marked traffic lanes. Deboer appeared under the influence to the officer and was asked to perform numerous field sobriety tests, all of which he failed. Deboer was arrested on charges of a liquor OUI and violating marked traffic lanes.

April 19

Frank D. Albano of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Ames H. Slate IV were arrested for larceny charges. The UMPD received a call from the Lederle Research Tower that there was a suspicious male in the building, later identified as Albano. The responding officers found Albano and Slate driving away from the building with University property in their possession. Albano was arrested on the charges of breaking and entering during daytime, larceny from a building, larceny of property worth over $250 and trespassing on school grounds. Slate was arrested for larceny of property worth over $250, larceny from a building, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
