A beer with El Presidente

College students need to follow a lot of rules: study hard, get involved, apply for internships and don’t party too much. If we don’t follow these rules, we’re told that we won’t make it in the real world. There is an exception to every rule of course; and one exception to these constraints is Dave “El Presidente” Portnoy.

Student survey finds e-book use lacking on UMass campus

A group of UMass students has conducted a survey with some rather unexpected results. The student-statisticians found that, when students are assigned to purchase electronic textbooks or e-books, many do not even purchase them, let alone read from their assignments.

‘The Losers’ not quite a winner in the box office

After impressive showings at the UNH pre-conference meets, the Minutemen and Minutewomen host the A-10 championships on Saturday morning. Lisa Wilson, Gina Perno, Nicole Pompei, Tyler Cotto, Sean Busch and Brian Miller look to lead both teams in competition.

Rams shut out Gaels, 49ers end home schedule with victory

Pitcher Jen Mineau pitched four strong innings, giving up one hit and striking out four, as the Fordham Rams defeated the Iona Gaels 6-0. The Temple Owls defeated GW in a double-header anchored by pitcher Kristen Marris, giving up a combined three hits in two games.

UMass shortstop pursues musical career

Some Minutewomen fans have heard shortstop Whitney Williams singing at UMass’ home games. Williams, a senior for the Minutewomen, hopes to pursue her musical career after she hangs up the cleats. Williams has been singing since she was four-years-old, and hopes to try out for “American Idol.”
