UMass falls in NCAA Play-In Game

The Massachusetts women’s lacrosse team lost 15-12 against Stanford on Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Play-In Game. The loss ends the season for the Minutewomen, while the Cardinal advance to meet James Madison in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

Minutemen tangle with Bobcats

The Massachusetts baseball team takes on Quinnipiac on Tuesday afternoon in its final non-conference matchup of the season. The Minutemen currently sit tied for seventh place in the Atlantic 10 with Fordham, but only two games separate seventh and second place. The Bobcats, meanwhile, are tied for third place in the Northeast Conference and are coming off a series win over Fairleigh Dickinson.

Minutemen hitting carries team over Dayton

The Massachusetts baseball team won its fifth straight conference win with a 10-2 win over Dayton on Sunday afternoon. UMass has now won eight of the past 10 games.

Wilson breaks record, boosts Minutewomen in New England Championships

Rachelle Bourque led the Minutewomen in the javelin for a second straight week, throwing 135 feet. Last week, she sat the UMass record in the same event.

Minutewomen clinch top spot in A-10 tournament

The Massachusetts softball team won all four of its games this weekend to clinch the top spot in the A-10 tournament. Senior Bailey Sanders made her first start since March 7 and earned a shutout victory.

UMass tries to reach NCAA tournament against Stanford

The Massachusetts women’s lacrosse team will try to advance to the NCAA tournament in the play-in game against Stanford. The Cardinals are coming off an 11-0 win over Denver.

Plourde breaks UM strikeout record as Minutewomen defeat Boston College

Pitcher Sara Plourde broke Danielle Henderson’s record of 465 strikeouts on Wednesday as UMass took a 3-1 decision over Boston College. The sophomore finished the game with nine strikeouts.

UMass outlasts Northeastern

The bullpen went 7.2 innings for the Massachusetts baseball team in its win over Northeastern. Sophomore Joe Pipielarczyk pitched four innings and gave up a hit with five strikeouts.
