UMass has relied heavily on players like Anthony Gurley and Freddie Riley to score points. As a team against Maine Wednesday evening, the Minutemen went 18-of-61 from the field and 5-for-25 from 3-point range. UMass also missed a number of layups which ultimately resulted in their second-straight loss of 2010.

Defensive struggles led to another defeat for UMass, who has just one victory so far this season. The Minutewomen turned the ball over 14 times in the first half, which BU turned into 16 points en route to a 66-49 victory. UMass will be back in action Saturday afternoon when it takes on Binghampton.

With finals coming up, UMass is still practicing but will have a 10-day break during Christmas before returning to Amherst and traveling to Puerto Rico to compete in the Loyola Invitational Jan. 8. After winter break, the teams have eight weeks before CAA competition begins.
