Jaclynn Chiodini’s UStyle

Chris Shores/Collegian
Name: Jaclynn Chiodini
Year: Senior
Major: Anthropology and African American Studies

With headphones in her ears and eyes focused on her studies, Jaclynn Chiodini’s look attracted attention despite her studious demeanor. Chiodini, a senior at the University of Massachusetts, sat in a cozy chair, bundled in warm clothing in the outskirts of the Learning Commons on Wednesday night. Unlike many of her sweatpants-clad peers, Chiodini presented herself in a stylish ensemble ranging from Tanzanian bracelets to Target tights.

The fashion forward student donned a sweater dress, patterned tights, mid-height boots and a thick scarf. Chiodini accentuated her fall apparel with bangle bracelets, a colorful stone necklace and silver hoop nose ring. For additional effect, Chiodini’s smile glimmered in a bright red lip color. “I don’t wear any makeup, but I like it when my lips pop,” said Chiodini.

Chiodini’s gray and black striped sweater dress lingered by her knees in length and single-sleevedly gave turtlenecks a more attractive name. The senior has had the dress since her freshman year and cannot recall where she bought it.

Chiodini’s gray, floral patterned sheer tights cost her $9 at Target. She owns a similar pair which cost her around $20, and accounts for the only two pairs of tights she owns. Keeping her colors coordinated in neutral tones, Chiodini also rocked her gray buckle boots which she bought at Faces in Northampton for $50.

When asked where she bought her scarf, Chiodini had an interesting response. While she was teaching at the Namelock Nursery School in Tanzania, Chiodini traded scarves with a young girl she was staying with to acquire her golden gray paisley number. Chiodini taught reading and writing during her time at the nursery school.

Hidden by her turtleneck, Chiodini wore a purple stone necklace to contrast her gray hues. On her journey home from Tanzania the student was temporarily stranded in a Turkey airport where she found the unique piece of jewelry for $15. Chiodini also sported a small silver chain necklace given to her by a friend.

Underneath her sweater sleeves Chiodini wore a variety of bangle bracelets, including a simple gold one she bought in Tanzania. To incorporate sass into her sophisticated look, Chiodini wore a silver hoop nose ring she bought one year ago at Mom’s Tattoo Studio in Amherst.

The senior does not have a particular style inspiration, but is looking forward to wearing red in addition to her favorite dark, neutral shades this fall.

When Chiodini isn’t teaching in Tanzania, she is looking adorable on campus in her various Anthropology and Math 100 courses.
