Tim McCormack, the goalie of the No. 1/2 Massachusetts men’s lacrosse team, has had a phenomenal senior season to date. And after his 14-save performance in UMass’ nail-biting win over Drexel on Saturday, the rest of the conference is taking notice.

McCormack was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week on Monday, according to a CAA press release. The senior had nine saves in the second half Saturday – five coming in a shutout third quarter – that allowed the Minutemen (11-0, 4-0 CAA) to come from behind to stay perfect.

The Long Beach, N.Y. native has been nothing short of spectacular in his final season at UMass. The netminder has surrendered a staggering 6.02 goals per game to lead the conference, with Penn State goalie Austin Kaut in second place with 7.48 GAA. McCormack is also second in the nation in that category, trailing only Notre Dame’s John Kemp’s average of 5.54 goals allowed per game.

McCormack has been particularly dominant over the past few weeks. In his last three outings, he’s surrendered just four goals per game in three wins over CAA opponents.

McCormack and the rest of the Minutemen are back in action on Saturday against Hofstra at Gillette Stadium.
