Many break-ins over long weekend

A slew of break-ins occurred over the holiday weekend. On Saturday, a man broke into two different apartments in the same building at 36 South East St. around 4:37 a.m., and he was arrested. On Sunday, the police received a call at 2:22 a.m. about a man knocking on the door at 101 Cherry Ln., trying to get inside the residence. He was arrested shortly thereafter. Then at 6:52 a.m., police received a call from 272 Lincoln Ave. about a man knocking on the door. He broke into a nearby car and was found passed out under a blanket and was later arrested. On Monday, residents at 237 Sunset Ave. returned from the long weekend to find cash and other items missing. Police suspect entry through an unlocked rear window. Residents at 44 McClure St. called at 2:50 p.m. to report missing clothes and jewelry. Police suspect that the perpetrator entered through the basement.

A three-vehicle car crash on Friday at 5:05 p.m. caused whiplash for one or more of the drivers and one person was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital for further evaluation.

At 11:38 p.m., callers reported revelers throwing bottles at them at 39 Hobart Lane, where there was a large, aggressive group and a live band. A 20-year-old woman from Weymouth received a summons on charges of a liquor law violation and underage drinking.

On Saturday, a vehicle moving 57 mph in a 40 mph zone on South Pleasant Street was pulled over. Officers found three men in the car in possession of marijuana. Each man received a summons on charges of possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
