To the editor:

The beginning of the semester is upon us, which means that faculty senate is looking to recruit students for councils and committees. Faculty senate has several groups from the health council, to the university writing committee. This is a great opportunity for you to get more involved in decision-making here at UMass and to see how the university functions. Joining one of these bodies gives you the opportunity to meet with administrators and professors and create a personal connection that will be invaluable in the future. Furthermore, you can receive 1 credit for serving on a committee by enrolling in the UNIVRSTY 298A: Faculty Senate Practicum. This is a great leadership opportunity and can help you grow and connect with those who make the university’s decisions.

Emily Spiewak, SGA chairwoman of outreach and development.
