Many people confuse therapy dogs with service dogs. My service dog is a 5.5 lb fellow named Foxy Brown. I got him at 10 weeks from a breeder in Long Island. I began training him for service at 7 months. Foxy is a service animal and an emotional support animal. Emotional support animals do not have as many privileges as service animals do. I believe it’s because of stigma towards psychological disabilities and the acceptance of inferior medical care standards for psychiatric injuries. Service animals are allowed to participate in many activities. Mine has been in airplanes, business meetings, lectures, movies, restaurants, doctors offices, and he has his own seat in the car. Lol.
When I am trying to deal with continued abuse and neglect from racist actions from people like Bill Moebius in Comparative Literature, having a loyal companion really helps. When I am writing these statements on the internet to get my website for OGSCL protected, having little Mr. Brown beside me really takes some of the burn off.
