The trial of Caleb Womack, the fourth defendant facing charges in connection with the 2012 gang rape of a then University of Massachusetts student, has been delayed.

Womack, 20, of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, is undergoing an evaluation for his competency to stand trial. A status hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, at 9 a.m. in Hampshire Superior Court. Jury selection was initially scheduled to begin on Monday, November 16.

He faces three counts of aggravated rape for his role in the 2012 incident. His three codefendants – Pittsfield natives Emmanuel Bile, 21, Justin King, 21 and Adam Liccardi, 21 – have all been found guilty on charges of aggravated rape and are currently serving minimum sentences of eight years each in state prison. Womack, unlike his codefendants, denies ever having sex with the woman.

The victim is expected to testify, as she has for the other three trials.
