Hadley fire tears up house, no injuries reported

A fire broke out at the residence of Robert and Judith Pelis, according to a Hadley Police dispatcher on Saturday afternoon at 54 Chmura Road in Hadley. No injuries were reported.

A car fire was reported to police at 12:53 p.m, as the fire began to spread to the house.

After 1 p.m. the road was closed off in order for firefighters to control the fire for two hours. After 3 p.m., the fire was under control and emergency vehicles left shortly after.

According to the Daily Hampshire Gazette, firefighters from Amherst, Northampton and South Hadley were also present to assist in controlling the fire. Police officers said the house is likely a total loss.
