Bonnies down pre-season favorite Marist

Senior Dana Mitchell collected her seventh career double-double for the St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team as it defeated Marist, 61-43, on Sunday. In a cross-town rivalry, Richmond topped Virginia Commonwealth University, 66-52, for its seventh win of the season.

Spiders win A-10 regular-season championship

With a 4-1 victory against Saint Joseph’s on Friday, the Richmond field hockey team won its sixth Atlantic 10 regular-season championship in the last eight years. Bridget Settles recorded her second hat trick of the season to give Temple a 6-2 win over Saint Louis and a berth in the A-10 Tournament.

SJU gets back to winning

The Saint Joseph’s field hockey team defeated Atlantic 10 rival West Chester 3-1 on Sunday. Against La Salle, Temple recorded a 1-0 shutout, moving to fourth place in the conference.

Running game powers Richmond past Maine

Top-ranked Richmond got past Maine by a score of 38-21 with four unanswered touchdowns in the second half on Saturday, highlighted by a 90-yard punt return for a score by senior Derek Hatcher. The running game for the Spiders (6-0, 4-0 Colonial Athletic Association) was the strongest point on the day as they out-gained the Black Bears (3-4, 2-2 CAA) 252 yards to -2 on the ground. Senior Justin Forte and running back Garrett Wilkins led the running game for Richmond.
