‘Post Secret’ founder tells all

I ran over my neighbor’s dog. I slept with my best friend’s husband. I pee in the shower. I like popping pimples. What’s your deepest darkest secret? And how would you feel broadcasting it to the entire world? Tortured? Afraid? Embarrassed? Relieved? These strong visceral responses to airing one’s own, or hearing another’s deepest darkest secrets have contributed to the “Post Secret” phenomenon.

UPC brings school spirit to campus concourse

This week, in anticipation of the big athletic games and alumni weekend, the UPC has organized a number of events to get community members in the spirit. They kicked-off the festivities with Tuesday’s RSO Talent Show.

Be sure to bring along a tin of Altoids to this weekend’s Garlic and Arts Festival which has been described as “the festival that stinks.” The event, currently in its 10th year, is a quaint country gathering of local farmers, craftsmen, vendors and vampire haters.

French sleeper hit, “Séraphine” garners well-deserved praise

With vivid visuals and the stunning performance of Yolande Moreau, “Séraphine,” now showing at the Pleasant Street Theater, will capture viewers with a sensitive portrayal of the little know painter Séraphine de Senlis. The French sleeper hit has earned seven César Awards, similar to the Academy Awards in France, including Best Actress and Best Picture.

Artists ask "Who Does She Think She Is?" in new documentary

The Everywoman’s Center and the Women of Color Leadership Network will be presenting the film, “Who Does She Think She Is?” tonight at 7 p.m. in the Augusta Savage Gallery in the New Africa House. This event is free to everyone, and the location is also wheelchair accessible.

Farmers give locals taste of community

Swarms of people dart in and out of the stalls on the Amherst Common, which displays anything from glistening eggplants, plump tomatoes, bright white cheeses and organic meats to homemade soaps, wildflowers and a variety of handicrafts. A sign reading Amherst Farmers’ Market beckons townspeople and students alike to the quaint display of a vibrant local economy.

Escape summer lulls with books

Whether killing time on a commuter train twice a day or relaxing at the beach, the endless hours of summer provides students with the opportunity to read for the pure joy of it … what a novel idea (no pun intended)!
