Professor emeritus Henry Lea discusses effects of WWII

Henry A. Lea, professor emeritus of German and Scandinavian studies, holds lecture titled, “Criminals with Doctorates: An SS Officer in the Killing Fields of Russia, as Told by the Jewish Novelist Jonathan Littell,” on Oct. 27 in the University of Massachusetts’ Herter Hall.

Conference addresses risks and causes for cancer among women

Panelists discuss the risk of cancer in women, and during a conference, stressed the importance of moderation in decreasing the risks for developing cancer, and bewaring of the excesses which can cause cancer cells to accumulate over time.

UMass Nursing School receives $120,000 grant

For the second year in a row, the School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Amherst has received another welcomed grant which seeks to increase the student enrollment for those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Integrated Sciences Building officially dedicated

The official dedication of the Integrated Sciences Building at UMass draws a large crowd. Several speakers including Chancellor Robert Holub, UMass President Jack Wilson and the Mahoney family—a family that donated generously to the building—sang praises of the opportunities the ISB would present to the student body.

Alumni offer aid with a $90,000 endowment towards scholarships for students in UMass’ nursing doctoral program

The 50th class reunion gift from the UMass alumni will be distributed amongst the nursing PhD students who qualify for financial assistance, in addition to being used for enticing new recruits to campus.
