UMass relied on its strong defense and goalie Tim McCormack to lift then to their upset over No. 6 Hofstra. The Minutemen, who led the CAA in caused turnovers and ground balls, used the two to help its offense in the win.

One of New England’s top lacrosse rivalries is renewed

The Massachusetts men’s lacrosse team heads to Rhode Island today to take on Brown in an afternoon matchup of two of the top seven scoring teams in the NCAA. Coming off a 17-3 win against Providence, the No. 18-ranked Minutemen will attempt to break their three-game losing skid against the No. 15-ranked Bears.

Minutemen fall to Harvard, cruise past Providence

UMass could not overcome the No. 11 Crimson a week ago, but instead responded by routing Providence by 14 goals on Tuesday. Art Kell led the way for the Minutemen in each game, totaling eight goals on the week.

Harvard and Providence travel to Amherst to face UMass

During spring break week, the Massachusetts men’s lacrosse team will host Harvard and Providence as it looks to improve its 3-1 season record. The Minutemen will rely on their offense which ranks second in the nation in scoring with 15.67 goals per game, while the Friars have scored 10 total goals in their first two games.

UMass to take on Spiders, need conference win

After dropping six spots in the NFHCA/Kookaburra Division I Poll, the Massachusetts field hockey team hopes to get back to its winning ways tomorrow against Richmond at Garber Field. The Minutewomen dropped both games against non-ranked conference opponents Saint Joseph’s and Temple this past weekend.

Minutewomen drop two games this weekend to begin Atlantic 10 play

A season after sweeping Atlantic 10 Conference play, UMass lost its first two conference matchups this season against Temple and Saint Joseph’s. Junior defender Makaela Potts tallied the only goal in UMass’ last three games as the Minutewomen were blanked on offense once again.

Penalty corners, team health to decide UM’s games in Philadelphia

Familiarity plays a big role when breaking down opponents. It’s common sense that knowing an opponent’s tendencies makes them an easier team to beat.

The No. 10 Massachusetts field hockey team is 16-1 against Atlantic 10 Conference opponents since UMass coach Justine Sowry became head coach.

Irwin scoring, Marcou honored

The UMass hockey team hopes to generate back-to-back offensive performances when they take on BU Friday. The power play was strong for the Minutemen, as it tallied four goals in the 5-2 win. Winger James Marcou earned Hockey East Performer of the Week honors for the third time, while conference competition begins this week.
