"Home” is a two week exhibition in the Student Union Art Gallery displaying artwork from University of Massachusetts and Five College students. According to the website, the exhibition addresses what, where and when home is. An exploration into peoples’ different roots, heritage and backgrounds fill the walls of the gallery and welcomes viewers into an artist’s interpretation of home.

George Saunders, an American author known mostly for his short stories, will speak tonight in the Student Union Ballroom. Saunders’ works include the story collections “CivilWarLand in Bad Decline” and “Pastoralia,” as well as novellas like “The Brief and Frightening Reign of Phil.” He has also published two essay compilations.

The biennial Five College Choral Festival falls this year on Saturday, Feb. 20. The festival will take place at 7:30 p.m. in John M. Greene Hall at Smith College in Northampton. Admission is free, though early arrival is recommended as seating is limited.

Looking through the windows, it would seem almost as if the wintry weather has made its way inside the warm walls of Hampden Gallery in Southwest. To the far away viewer, it looks like columns and walls have been crystallized. However, if a pedestrian were to step inside, they would find out that this exhibit is so much more.

“Shameless Self Promotion” is currently on view at the University Gallery in the Fine Arts Center. It consists of artworks of Polaroid dimensions by UMass MFA students in response to Andy Warhol’s exhibit “The Minox and The Big Shot: Andy Warhol’s Photography.” The exhibit is described as an opportunity for MFA students to engage in artistic dialogue with Warhol’s art.
