Amherst PD have busy first weekend of 2010 school year

The Amherst Police Department announced Monday that it is investigating two “serious assaults” which took place last weekend. Amherst police responded to 231 calls for service this weekend, with 31 disturbance calls and 49 individuals charged with crimes through arrest or summons.

Springfield man arrested on breaking and entering charges

On Sept. 8 just after 10:30 p.m., Amherst police officers received a report from a Sunset Ave. resident of a larceny in his apartment. The resident told police he had observed Michael Gibbs leave his apartment, and that he noticed some missing electronic equipment.

Amherst man pleads innocent to running over, pointing gun at another man in fight over woman

An Amherst man pleaded not guilty today to charges stemming from an incident yesterday in which police said he intentionally drove a car into another man before pulling out a gun and chasing the man into the woods where he punched and kicked him in a dispute over a woman.
