Boston Globe: Confessed rapist remains enrolled at UMass due to administrative error

According to a story in today’s Boston Globe, “officials at the University of Massachusetts Amherst this week acknowledged that they allowed a student who confessed to raping a friend on campus last fall, a felony, to remain enrolled and avoid significant discipline.”

Collision sends car over embankment into campus field

A two-car accident sent one vehicle over a steep embankment and into the athletic fields along Commonwealth Avenue across from the campus Recreation Center earlier this evening.

Rte. 9 collision separates engine from vehicle, hospitalizes four

A serious head-on collision on Route 9 in Hadley earlier this week separated the engine from one of the vehicles involved and hospitalized four people, including three who are believed to be University of Massachusetts students.

Heavy rain causes flooding on campus

Flash flooding in parking lots surrounding the Robsham Visitors Center formed a small lake by mid-Monday, flooding nearly a dozen vehicles.

AP calls election for Brown

The Associated Press is reporting Republican Sen. Scott Brown has claimed a shocking come-from-behind win in the Massachusetts special election over Democratic candidate Martha Coakley, who most had believed until recently was a shoe-in for the U.S. Senate seat the left vacant by the late Sen.
