Running in mud on a rainy day in Boston, the Massachusetts men’s and women’s cross country teams placed 11th out 36 teams and 20th out of 35, respectively, in the NCAA Regional Qualifier. Both teams will next head to New York City this weekend to take part in the IC4a Championships.

After two weeks of rest, UMass heads to Boston to compete in the NCAA Regional Qualifiers as it hopes to fight for a spot in the NCAA Championships. The Minutemen took second place in the Atlantic 10 Championships on Oct. 31.

Despite adverse weather conditions, the Massachusetts men’s and women’s cross country teams placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. Three Minutemen placed in the top 15, while freshman Courtney Baldwin finished 9th overall and earned the A-10 Rookie of the Year award.

The Massachusetts cross country team will encounter sloppy conditions this weekend when they compete in the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships. The field is expected to be thick, wet, and muddy as rain showers will accumulate anywhere from two to four inches by Friday night.

The Massachusetts women's cross country team outran its male counterparts in competition this weekend. At the Albany Invitational this past weekend. The Minutewomen placed 4th overall while the Minutemen finished 25th out of 35 at the ISU Pre-Nationals.
