Minutemen conclude season at IC4A Championships

The Massachusetts men’s cross country team captured a 17th-place finish out of 19 teams at the IC4A Championships to wrap up its season. Junior Patrick McAllister led the Minutemen in 58th place in a field of 162 runners with a time of 26 minutes and 12 seconds.

UMass finishes in top 20

The Massachusetts cross-country teams finished in the top 20 at the NCAA Atlantic Regionals in Connecticut this weekend. The Minutemen took ninth place while the Minutewomen finished in 19th.

UMass teams try to qualify for NCAA Championships

After a grueling effort at the Atlantic 10 championships, the Massachusetts men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday in Madison, Conn. Last year, the Minutemen came in 11th place at the regional championships, while the Minutewomen finished 20th.

Despite having the weekend off, the Massachusetts cross country teams are preparing for the upcoming battle in Pennsylvania. Both teams are keeping a watchful eye on conference rival Duquesne, which is based out of Pittsburgh, and may have a home field advantage.

UMass finds success among country’s best

The Massachusetts cross country teams competed in separate venues, but both succeeded against their respective competition. The Minutewomen finished in fourth place at the Rothenberg Race while the Minutemen took eighth in the Chili Pepper Festival.

Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams have a big weekend ahead of them, as they travel to face big-name opponents. Most notably, the men will take on No. 2 Oklahoma State and No. 6 Arkansas.

Four news faces succeed for Minutemen

Over the weekend, four new faces achieved top-five finishing for the men’s side of the cross country team. Meanwhile, the Minutewomen overcame nagging injury issues to place 11th out of 47 teams.

Cross-country teams to compete in New England Championships

The Massachusetts cross-country teams will compete against some of the better programs in the Northeast during the New England Championships. Men’s coach Ken O’Brien said he is looking forward to seeing if his younger runners can step up this weekend.
