After splitting with Fordham on Senior Day, the Massachusetts men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. for the Atlantic 10 Championships. The Minutemen will attempt to win their fourth consecutive title while the Minutewomen will look to overthrow nine-time defending champion and favorite Richmond.

The Minutemen and Minutewomen were successful over the weekend against Colgate in their seventh dual meet of the year. Jason Cook led the diving team, while Joey Sbordon helped the Minutemen beat the Red Raiders 182-106.

Both the Minutemen and Minutewomen came away with a first-place finish in the two-day Rhode Island Invitational over winter break. The meet was a preview and warm up for the Atlantic 10 Championships as many of the same teams competed.

The Massachusetts swimming and diving team should get some time in the sun as well as some competition during winter break. UMass will head to San Juan, Puerto Rico to compete in the Loyala Invitational on Jan. 9. The actual meet is little significance to UMass , and solely for preparation.

For the first time this season, the Massachusetts swim teams traveled to different locations. The men competed against Yale while the women took on Northeastern as both teams dropped their meets after impressive showings at Boston University’s Terrier Invitational.

The Massachusetts swimming and diving teams both earned third place at Boston University’s Terrier Invitational. Jason Cook led the men’s diving team with two victories, while the swim team had 22 top-five individual finishes.
