The Minutewomen saw their luck run out against the Eagles, falling to BC 7-0 on Saturday. Kaitlyn Carpenter filled in for Julia Comas in the No.2 doubles, but UMass could not pull off the match victory.

Looking to keep its three-game home winning streak alive, the Massachusetts tennis team will face a pair of opponents this weekend in Saint John’s and Army. Since 2003, the Minutewomen are 1-5 against the Black Knights, including two 4-3 losses in the last couple years.

The Massachusetts tennis team will play Friday afternoon against Northeast Conference champion Long Island. The Blackbirds finished 10-8 overall and 3-0 in conference.

Wrapping up its fall season with a 3-0 record, the Massachusetts tennis team will look to continue its momentum into the spring season. The Minutewomen will travel to Connecticut to face Yale, who is ranked No. 48 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

As only a freshman, Julia Comas has been dominant for the Massachusetts tennis team, earning a perfect 8-0 doubles as well as a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win. The international player from Barcelona has fit in well with the Minutewomen who have a bevy of foreign players, including Comas’ doubles partner, Magdalena Ploch.

Losing all 12 matches against Dartmouth Sunday while suffering from a few injuries, UMass competed in the Big Green Invitational tennis tournament this past weekend. UMass, BU, St. John’s and Dartmouth all participated in the tournament.

Coming in ranked No. 17, Magdalena Ploch advanced to the fifth round of the ITA Regional Championships over this past weekend, upsetting the No. 3 seed. UMass doubles team of Candynce Boney and Maude Lecluyse did not find the same success, getting bounced after a first-round bye.

The Massachusetts tennis team avenged last year’s loss in a dominating fashion yesterday, as it defeated the Rhode Island Rams 7-0 at home in Amherst. UMass (3-0) stayed undefeated with the win, while also handing Rhode Island (3-1) their first loss of the season.

With a 2-0 start to the season, UMass hopes to stay undefeated when they face Rhode Island today. Last year the Rams won a hard-fought battle against the Minutewomen, 4-3, but this year UMass is back to full force with Magdalena Ploch starting at the No. 1 singles.
