Big D and the Kids Table to bring adult language to NoHo

Boston’s Big D and the Kids Table will be taking the stage at Pearl Street in Northampton for the first time in several years tonight. Joining the ska-punk band will be three other bands: illScarlett from Ontario, Canada, The Stereo State (formerly known as FiveAcrossTheEyes) from Holyoke, Mass., and Skasome Society from Westfield, Mass.

Raising the Dead: Dark Star Orchestra to play the Calvin

The spirit of the Dead will rise tonight at the Calvin Theatre. The world-renowned Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) will bring the Grateful Dead back to Northampton tonight. They have been touring with the legendary Donna Jean Godchaux, who was in the Grateful Dead during the 1970s.

Rob Thomas set to rock Boston on heels of new album

Tonight, Rob Thomas will take the stage at the Citi Performing Arts Center in Boston to sing songs from his new album “Cradlesong.” Audience members can expect to hear hits from his multi-platinum debut “…Something to Be,” as well as Matchbox 20 hits, the band from which Thomas got his fame. Thomas is set to perform after this summer’s breakout band One Republic opens the show at 7:30 p.m.

Second solo album from “The Chef” has critics talking

Raekwon “The Chef” has led the group back to the hip-hop forefront with his latest solo album, “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…Part II.” The album, released on Sept. 8, features guest performances from all seven living members of the original Wu-Tang Clan and has been hailed by many industry insiders as the return of the gritty, raw style of hip-hop that launched the group into popularity in the 1990s.
