The Minutemen lost four of their star players to the NHL and others to graduation following last season’s campaign. Now, UMass will lean on its young core, which includes 13 freshmen to provide scoring on offense and leadership on defense.
While James Marcou and Casey Wellman anchored the Minutemen’s power-play unit last season, UMass will look for a slew of young players to generate offense in man-up situations. The Minutemen went 0-for-5 against the Golden Gophers over the weekend in the power-play.
