Last second call keeps Minutemen undefeated

Senior Anthony Gurley put up the game-winning layup that was blocked and ruled goaltending, as UMass blew a 17-point lead against the Bobcats but held on for the victory, 66-64, Wednesday night. Gurley finished with 19 points, while Javorn Farrell led the team with 25 points while adding five rebounds and an assist.

Farrell playing well since returning from injury

Sophomore Javorn Farrell has contributed 27 points over two games since returning from an injury that kept him out of the first two contests this year. With Farrell on the court, the Minutemen have defeated New Mexico State and Texas Christian to move to 4-0 on the young season.

Sophomores primed to make jump

After gaining a year of experience, sophomores Freddie Riley, Terrell Vinson, Sampson Carter and Javorn Farrell, along with redshirt freshman Raphiael Putney, are ready to elevate their games. For the Massachusetts men’s basketball team to have success, coach Derek Kellogg realizes their growth and development will be key.

Minutemen look for third consecutive win

In an eighth-place tie with Duquesne after defeating the Dukes and Saint Joseph’s in its last two games, the Massachusetts men’s basketball team will look to climb the Atlantic 10 standings when it faces George Washington on the road tonight. The Minutemen will face a stout defensive squad in the Colonials who allow 66.9 point per game.
