After falling to Stanford, 2-1, at home in the NCAA tournament play-in game, the Minutewomen learned that they had earned an at-large bid into the tournament. UMass’ first-round opponent is No. 1 Maryland, a team the Minutewomen played in the regular season and lost 3-0 to on the road.

Despite losing to Stanford in the NCAA Tournament play-in game, the Massachusetts field hockey team was chosen by the selection committee to play Maryland in the first round. The Terrapins (19-1) are the No. 1 seed overall and will play the Minutewomen this Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
