Minutemen fall to Friars Saturday, skate to draw Friday at home

After tying the Friars Friday night at home, the Minutemen fell to PC, 3-2, on Saturday, as costly miscues prevented UMass from getting its first victory of the 2010 season.

Inexperience an issue for Minutemen of late

UMass has yet to win a game so far this season, as the team has nine freshmen still trying to get acclimated to college hockey. However, six of the 17 goals this season have come from first years, as Mike Pereira has three and two from this past weekend.

Though the Massachusetts hockey team lost its last games against Boston University and Providence, it has an opportunity this weekend to win both series with victories. Nevertheless, UMass coach Don Cahoon is concentrating primarily on the Terriers this Friday and not looking ahead to the Friars on Saturday.
