The Football Championship Subdivision rankings took a major turn this weekend as nine teams in the top 25 fell, three of which were ranked in the top ten.

UNH and Delaware square off Friday, after the Wildcats defeated Bethune-Cookman last week in the second round of play. The Blue Hens have one of the top five offenses in the country led by Penn State transfer quarterback and CAA Offensive Player of the Year Pat Devlin. Meanwhile, Villanova takes on Appalachian State, while William & Mary were defeated by Georgia Southern, 31-15 on its home turf.

The Colonial Athletic Association football conference earned four bids into the 2010 NCAA Division I National Championship field of 20. William & Mary ranks as the top team coming out of the conference with a potent offense, averaging over 25 points per game for the season.

After an injury to Mike Callahan took the quarterback out of the game, Dae’Quan Scott took over under center and led the Dukes to victory. Scott won conference honors, while UNH upset Villanova 31-24.

With both Delaware and William & Mary winning their respective games this weekend, the two sides are a deadlock for first place in the Colonial Athletic Association. While the Blue Hens trounced Towson, 48-0, the Tribe snuck by New Hampshire, 13-3.

Following William & Mary’s 17-16 defeat over Delaware, the top of the CAA conference is a deadlock. The Tribe scored two touchdowns in the second half to secure victory, both through the air.
