In yet another effort to contemplate the horrific tragedy of Sept. 11, Math Professor Melvyn Berger will be the discussant of a seminar on counter terrorism today at 2:00 p.m. in the Lederle Graduate Research Center, room 1634.
All faculty and students are encouraged to join in the conversation and help think constructively about the war on terrorism. “This is a shocking situation,” Berger said. “We’re looking for constructive ideas from students to counter these terrible things that are being done.”
Among the subtopics that will be discussed are chemical and biochemical warfare, and methods to prevent airplane hijacking.
“I’m looking to find an antidote for our planes running into big skyscrapers,” Berger said. “I’d like to invent an electro-magnetic shield.
“I’d like to talk about biochemical difficulties [at the seminar]. We’re going to study what was done in the past, since there were problems with [biochemical] warfare going back as far as the 18th century.”
The seminar is free and open to the public, and there will be tea following it. For more questions please contact Professor Berger at 546-1027.
