The University of Massachusetts is closed on Feb. 10, due to an impending snow storm. UMass spokesman Ed Blaguszewski sent out an alert earlier this morning announcing the news.
Many services will remain open: University Health Services, University Police, Campus Center Hotel and Garage, Dining Commons, Physical Plant (essential personnel only) and the University Operator.
Athletic events are still on, until cancelled individually. For more information, see UMass Athletics.
The library has closed for the day and will reopen tomorrow at 8 a.m.
Busses are running, but there may be delays throughout the storm. For more information, see UMass Transit.
As announced previously on our site, the Campus-Wide Career Fair and the Life Sciences Career Fair will be held as scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Campus Center, according to the Career Services office. However, the sloppy weather could keep some companies from making the trip to the fair.
For more information on closing, please see http://www.umass.edu/closing/.

You have GOT to be kidding! Here is the forecast:
“Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.”
And the headline ought to have been “University Screws Students – Keeps Money, Denies Benefits.” We have snow plows, we have shovels, and it used to be that we knew how to use them….
Ice storm, yes. That is a safety issue. But for basic snow????
