Amherst Police Department investigating possible home invasion and armed robbery Sun. morning

A possible home invasion and armed robbery took place on South East Street in Amherst early Sunday morning, according to information released by spokesperson Mary Carey of the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office.

The Amherst Police Department and Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating. The incident appears to have been targeted, and the police believe the public is not at risk.

One victim received non-life threatening lacerations to the arm with an unknown weapon and was transported to Baystate Medical Center.

One of the possible suspects is in custody and three others are unknown at this time.
