Search underway for body at Puffer’s Pond

The call was made at about 1:40 p.m. on Friday afternoon

Amherst emergency responders are currently searching Puffer’s Pond after a bystander called in concerned about someone possibly drowning on Friday afternoon.

A tweet posted at 3:13 p.m. on Friday by the Amherst Police Department reads: “The Amherst Police Department along with the Amherst Fire Department, and Regional Dive Team are currently searching the area of Puffer’s Pond in North Amherst for a missing adult swimmer currently. More information regarding this matter to follow.”

“It is still under investigation until maybe tomorrow,” APD Officer Scott Thurston said.

A MassLive article said, “divers are on scene after calls came in about 1:40 p.m. for someone floundering in the water,” according to Fire Chief Tim Nelson.
