A woman was struck and killed by a school van exiting Crocker Farm Elementary in Amherst on Tuesday, according to police.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m., and as a result Route 116 in South Amherst is closed between Shays Street and West Pomeroy, according to MassLive.

Mary Carey, a spokeswoman for the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, said the incident will be investigated by the DA’s office, MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CARS) and MSP Crime Services.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
