UMass will offer mostly remote classes and allow students with housing reservations to live on campus during the fall semester, the school announced in an email Monday.
An email from the Office of the Provost to UMass community states an anticipated first day of classes on Aug. 24 and last day of classes on Nov. 20 before Thanksgiving this year. Classes will be held on three fall holidays and final exams will be conducted remotely and end by Dec. 4.
The school is considering on-campus classes for those in “essential face-to-face courses,” freshmen and possibly seniors, in addition to an earlier start date and no return after Thanksgiving.
