It’d be cool to know why the complete and utter failure to get this building open on time (it’s now been almost a week and, according to a construction worker I talked to, there’s not even a timetable on when this thing will actually get opened – all this while students on campus have now gone a whole week without access to a fitness center) has gone completely unnoticed by the Collegian, or why they’ve failed to address how their front-page story on Wednesday boasting of the building’s opening got published when, even in the early afternoon Tuesday, it was made very clear by Campus Recreation that the opening would be further postponed.
I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like students would rather be informed about the Rec Center debacle than read daily stories about an election they clearly didn’t care enough about to vote in. Not to say the SGA elections don’t deserve coverage, but considering how important fitness is to so many students on this campus, it’s kind of embarrassing to me as a reader and supporter of this paper that such a huge story is being essentially ignored.
