As a former student, and someone who was once on the front cover, this is very sad. I have always been a supporter of printed media. Not all of us over thirty even like to read anything on the computer. In fact, when I was a student, no one even cared about computers. They were just for writing papers. I don’t remember anyone even having a cell phone until my senior year. You would remember that since they were the size of a brief case back then.
Papers organize your news nicely. They are lightweight. Fit right in your notebook. It gave Prof Cantor something to get sidetracked on. That alone is worth it. Me and him are dinosaurs I suspect. But guess what? Soon, none of you kids will be relevant anymore either. The times will change on you too. It’s a bitch. Someday, you’ll stop smoking weed and get married and get a job. You will be fumbling around in your basement and you will find a copy of the Daily Collegian in your stuff and remember those great days at Umass.
