UMass trustees vote to implement 7.5 percent fee increase

Members of the UMass Board of Trustees voted in a 9-4 decision Wednesday to implement a 7.5 percent fee increase for  students across the five-campus UMass system. The decision came amid protests by roughly two dozen members of the UMass community, who contended that public funding for the University should be increased.

 

Holub’s future at UMass continues to remain uncertain

Speculation continues to loom about the future of Robert Holub’s tenure as chancellor of the University of Massachusetts. Despite rumblings that the situation would be discussed by the UMass Board of Trustees, no talks into the matter occurred at the board’s meeting Wednesday.

 

New band director selected

A 37-year-old band director from California State University-Fresno has been chosen to lead the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band. Timothy Anderson – who for the past five years has served as the leader of the marching band and concert band, among other things at the Fresno school – will assume the role of band director at UMass this fall, according to a University release.
