“Legend” soars with stunning imagery

Experimental rock band Xiu Xiu taps into new energy at Hampshire College

Xiu Xiu put on quite the performance at the Hampshire College dining commons on April 12. Their “thunderstorm of a set” even included the use of a Nintendo DS as an instrument. The band also used sexual outbursts at peak moments of their performance.

Bong Joon-ho’s “Mother” thrills and spiritually engages

In a film climate where little substance appears to be occurring in the mainstream, it is nice to see a film like “Mother” (Madeo). What viewers are privy to is an incredibly gripping, thematically complex, and beautifully directed thriller by Bong Joon-ho. Now that it has won the 2010 Asian Film Award for best picture, it looks like it has the potential to be a runaway success.
