Scoring offense paying off for Minutemen

UMass’ offense has been clicking on all cylinders so far this season, leading the Hockey Easy in scoring offense. Forward T.J. Syner, a focal part of the Minutemen attack, will not play against the Purple Eagles, and line mate James Marcou was named Hockey East Player of the Month for October.

After scoring five goals on Friday against the Friars, the Minutemen offense notched just one goal on Saturday as they fell 2-1. UMass outshot the Friars in the match but could not find the net with Providence’s goaltender Alex Beaudry protecting it.

The Friars’ Alex Beaudry bounced back after allowing five goals on Friday in a loss to the Minutemen to save a career-high 47 shots on Saturday to hand UMass its first loss of the season. The Minutemen made a late comeback on Friday in a 5-3 win, but could not mount on Saturday as they lost 2-1.
