Residents of Rolling Green Apartments in Amherst who tried to leave after 9:30 a.m. this morning were told to go back to their apartments. GazetteNet and MassLive.com are reporting that police found the body of a 21-year-old male in a four-door black sedan and that residents of the complex could smell a strange odor.
Officials found hydrogen sulfide on the scene – an extremely toxic chemical that can be created with household products and is commonly used for suicide. The Department of Fire Service Hazardous Material Response and the Amherst Police and Fire Departments were on the scene till around 2:30 p.m. No one was allowed to use the entrance or exit while officials were on the scene.
Responders are no longer at the apartment complex, and people may now enter and leave freely.
