The Pi Iota chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and the Smith African and Caribbean Students Association, SASA, will be holding a workshop on living with AIDS, HIV testing and AIDS awareness at 6:30 p.m. at Smith College’s Wright Common Room.

The UMass Palestine Action Coalition, PAC, will officially launch a divestment from Israel campaign from 12:15 to 1 p.m. on the steps of the Student Union.

Auditions for the Vietnam Students Association’s New Years Celebration will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Campus Center Auditorium.

Marc Adams, author and literary award recipient, will be at room 903 of the Campus Center at 7 p.m. to speak about his new book, A Preacher’s Son. The book is about the author’s experience growing up gay as the son of a fundamentalist Baptist minister and other issues. The event will be hosted by Richard Pioli, Assistant Dean of Students.

The Jewish Women’s Collective Program will present a discussion entitled “Jewish Women and Our Bodies: A Conversation With Susan Weidman Schneider.” Join other Jewish women in this discussion about the images of our bodies that are projected and those that we internalize. The talk will be held at Hillel House from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Movie: A Stranger Among Us at 7 p.m., at Hillel House Rec. Room. This movie explores the mysteries of Hasidic Judaism through the eyes of an outsider – a gentile police detective – who enters this reclusive society to investigate a murder. The movie stars Melanie Griffith. Sponsored by JRUSSIA.

“Ketzev Yisrael Radio Show” on WMUA 91.1FM, 12 p.m.-2:30pm

A night of live Christian music and friendship opportunities will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Refreshments will be served.

Saturday

A 20th anniversary gala celebrating the Cape Verdean Student Alliance will be held at the Campus Center Auditorium from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. The cultural night is a formal event and will include guest speakers, dance performances and Cape Verdean food. Admission is $7 for students and $12 for general public.

Andrew Vidich, mystic poet and author of Love is a Secret, will give a presentation on the transformative power of meditation at the Jones Library, 43 Amity St, Amherst, at 6 p.m. The event is free and sponsored by Science of Spirituality.

Morning services starting at 11 a.m., at Hillel House with free lunch.

At 2:30 p.m. there will be a discussion of “Jewish Views on Tattooing and Body Piercing” as well as a discussion on “Gender and Jewish Identity: Being a Jewish Woman.” At 4:30 p.m. there will be the Light Third Meal

“Yoga in Action Day,” being sponsored by the Arts and Living Club. The Western Massachusetts Interfaith Coalition for Peace and Justice will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church, 16 Court Square in the center of Greenfield.

Tuesday

A discussion entitled “Beyond Tuskegee: A Forum on Racism In Health Care Today” will be held at 7 p.m. in room 168 of the Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Jewish Student Union General Meeting at 7p.m. in Campus Center, Room to be announced. Come meet, plan, discuss and make menorahs!!
