Hip-hop finally received proper recognition from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences when the 46th Annual Grammy Award nominations were announced Dec. 4 – and the genre can expect more love when the awards are handed out Sunday. Three out of the five nominations in the Album of the Year category and four out of the five nominations in the Record of the Year category belong to hip-hop or R’B acts.
