SGA Senate elections not yet ratified

The University of Massachusetts Student Government Association Senate elections were not ratified last night due to lack of attendance at the Coordinating Council meeting.

The meeting has been postponed to Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the SGA’s Student Union office.

“The Senate could not be ratified due to quorum,” said SGA President Eduardo Bustamante. Bustamante also said he believed many people involved in the SGA were not informed of the meeting until Saturday and many people were out of town because of the three-day weekend.

“I’m really disappointed that we couldn’t have the meeting,” said Associate Speaker Seamus Brennan. “The [election] turnout was excellent. We had about 2,200 people voting … Every seat was contested.”

Despite the lack of attendance, SGA election results were released on the Association’s Web site, www.umass.edu/SGA/senate_elections, this weekend.
