Teen dies in car chase

BOSTON-A 15-year-old Boston boy died early Sunday when the car he was in crashed just minutes after police broke off pursuit of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as Daniel Rodriguez, 17, of the city’s Roslindale neighborhood, is facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, following the crash at about 2 a.m.

Also, an 18-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries and a 14-year-old male passenger sustained non life-threatening injuries.

An officer spotted the vehicle with a broken windshield at about 1:45, police said. After discovering that its license plate was reported stolen, the officer pulled over the car. As the officer approached the vehicle, it sped off, resulting in a pursuit, police said.

The officer broke off pursuit when his cruiser got a flat tire.

Just minutes later, the suspect’s car crashed on Hyde Park Avenue.

Backseat passenger, Jeffrey Martinez, 15, of Roslindale died of injuries sustained in the crash.
